Jay Electronica - Shiny Suit Theory (ft. Jay-Z, The-Dream, and Charlotte Gainsbourg)

Jay-Z and Jay Electronica met during a chance encounter at the Spotted Pig restaurant in the West Village. A courtship began and Jay Electronica eventually signed with Hova’s Roc-a-fella records after Jay-Z sent him an email that included a verse, which is Jay-Z’s verse on this track.

Jay Electronica has quickly become one of my favorite MC’s after hearing Exhibit C a few years ago, probably one of the most striking hip hop tracks ever recorded.

It’ll be interesting to see what Jay Elec does now that he’s actually signed to a label, considering he still hasn’t even released an album. 

Also, he’s Erykah Badu’s latest baby’s daddy.
